Elegant LGBTQ Wedding at Winter Park Resort | Jamie and Ivan — Colorado Wedding and Elopement Photographer

The fall of 2023 was a BUSY time of the year for me, filled with some of my favorite weddings from the year! One such wedding is the one we’ll be taking a look at today, Jamie and Ivan’s LGBTQ wedding at Winter Park Resort!! These two sure know how to put together a fantastic wedding day. A stunning mountain view for their ceremony, a live band for their reception, and ice cream for them and their guests to enjoy, need I say more?! Actually yes because that only scratches the surface of this fantastic wedding day!!

Getting Ready for the Day

Jamie and Ivan spent the morning of their wedding day getting ready with their respective wedding parties, though in a slightly different way! Ivan spent her time with the gals in her wedding party helping her, meanwhile Jamie chose to get ready with the help of her mother and then have a first look with her wedding party gals!! I love how these two from the get go were able to create the wedding day experience that they both wanted!

Once ready Jamie then had a first look with her father and brother as well which was SO sweet! It was then time for us to take the ski lift up to Winter Park Resort for their ceremony, and on the way we were treated to a rainbow as the perfect bit of symbolism for their LGBTQ wedding!! We had a little bit of time for some wedding party portraits with both Jamie and Ivan before their ceremony was set to start.

Their LGBTQ Wedding Ceremony at Winter Park Resort

As fitting as the rainbow was for Jamie and Ivan’s wedding day, it did mean that Colorado was making things a little harder for us with some scattered rain. Lucky enough for us though, the weather ended up having Jamie and Ivan’s best interests at heart, clearing up just enough for us to still have their ceremony outdoors!! This was a huge relief too as Jamie and Ivan could then use the STUNNING ceremony space of Winter Park Resort for their LGBTQ wedding. Lunch Rock is the name of the space, and honestly the classic view of the Rockies sort of speaks for itself in terms of beauty, so I’m sure you can see why we were so glad the weather worked out!!

For the ceremony itself both Jamie and Ivan chose to enter the space at the same time escorted by their parents which created such a beautiful and dynamic moment to kick things off! I really love when couples aren’t afraid to do things their own way as it leads to amazing moments like this!! Their ceremony itself was full of joy, laughter, and a fair share of happy tears during the vow reading. Once the ceremony had finished though it was time to take advantage of the weather while we could, fitting in wedding party, family, AND newlywed portraits while we could still use the ceremony space!

Indoor Reception at Winter Park Resort

Not only did the rain clear up for Jamie and Ivan’s ceremony, but it also cleared up for some gorgeous sunset portraits! Aside from the rain, we actually lucked out in terms of weather for a September wedding! Sometimes things can get PRETTY chilly here in Colorado, especially in the mountains, lucky for us though 2023 was a warmer year!! After all the portraits were done Jamie and Ivan had just a bit of time left to mingle for their cocktail hour before the reception got underway. While Winter Park Resort has a majestic outdoor space, it also offers a wonderful indoor space which was perfect for this LGBTQ wedding reception. For Jamie and Ivan’s reception they chose to start it with a small speech from Jamie followed by the newlyweds cutting their cake together. From heartfelt speeches and group portraits, to an ice cream cart and an epic live band, Jamie and Ivan had an absolute BLAST celebrating their marriage with their loved ones! They also ended the night in style with a HUGE bubble exit!!
