Summer Micro Wedding in Pikes Peak | Elizabeth and Alex

For Elizabeth and Alex’s wedding day they wanted an intimate, relaxed celebration, one where they could be fully present with each other through every moment of the day. This desire is what lead the two to decide on a micro wedding for their day, and it was THE perfect choice! Their wedding ceremony along Pikes Peak Highway, followed soon after by an intimate reception at Ivywild School, was an amazing balance of intimate moments and wonderful times with their closest friends and family, all wrapped up in the beauty and charm of Colorado!!

Their First Look and Private Vows

Elizabeth and Alex’s micro wedding began on the stunning Crystal Reservoir, which rests along Pikes Peak Highway. The two wanted an intimate start to the day where they could truly share in each other’s presence. They did this by kicking things off with a first look followed by the sharing of their private vows with one another. I absolutely LOVE when couples prioritize private moments like this for their day! It’s one of the many reasons why I love micro weddings so much, and it was so wonderful getting to witness the joy of these two sharing in this moment together!!

An Intimate Micro Wedding Ceremony on Pikes Peak Highway

Following a few couples portraits on the reservoir, Elizabeth and Alex’s family members started arriving for their intimate ceremony. With lawn chairs in tow for their seats, we got set up for a beautiful ceremony looking out over the waters of the Crystal Reservoir! This space really encapsulates the beauty of Colorado’s landscapes, and was a phenomenal choice for this micro wedding ceremony! I’m SO glad these two reached out to the Pikes Peaks Ranger District to reserve this magical space for their day. After officially becoming newlyweds we took some family portraits before Elizabeth, Alex, and I headed up the highway for some more portraits in the mountains.

In their cute little convertible Mazda, which matched Alex’s suit color perfectly by the way, we made our way up into the snow covered mountains for some amazing newlywed portraits! Safe to say that I’m in love with how these portraits came together, as I’m always a fan of couples finding ways to make their photos feel authentic to their love and their life together. With plenty of portraits under our belts, it was time to head back down the Pikes Peak Highway towards Colorado Springs for the reception of their micro wedding!!

Celebrating Their Micro Wedding at Ivywild School

In the heart of Colorado Springs is the Ivywild School, an old elementary school that has since been converted to a multi-use space for businesses where you can eat, drink, and shop to your heart’s content. It also features Bristol Brewing Co, which is where Elizabeth and Alex’s micro wedding reception took place! This was such a great spot for their cozy and casual reception, and really allowed the two to spend time with and enjoy the company of those they love most! It was a wonderful afternoon with their friends and family, and following a few portraits outside the old Ivywild School it was time for me to leave and let these two enjoy the rest of their day together as a newly married couple.

I had the best time documenting Elizabeth and Alex’s cozy and personal micro wedding day. From their ceremony at Crystal Reservoir, to our portraits along Pikes Peak Highway, and of course their relaxed reception at the Ivywild School, it all felt SO right for these two incredible people!!
