A Look at My Process as a Colorado Elopement Photographer

On your elopement day I cater your experience to whatever you dream up for your day.  Each of my clients have their own online portal full of resources. Each of these resources help you to decide what you want out of your elopement day.  These guides cover everything from sample timelines, what to wear, and even how to legally get married in Colorado. I make sure to guide my couples through every step of the way as they plan their day.  If you want a peek at some of the topics that I include in my elopement guide check out this blog post on eloping in Colorado!

How Much Does it Cost to Elope in Colorado

In 2026 elopements in Colorado typically cost between $4,000 and $8,000 depending on the experience you want. Variables that affect the price include the length of your elopement, the vendors and the experience you want for your day. One of my favorite parts about eloping is that you and your partner get to use your budget to craft a wedding day that you’ll love every second of.  My elopement packages start at $3200 with an average investment of $4500.  Other costs you can expect when planning your elopement include:

  • Florists

  • Hair and makeup artists

  • Permits

  • Wedding Attire

  • Marriage License

  • An Officiant

Fun fact: If you don’t want an officiant at your elopement, you can self-solemnize!  This means you and your partner can conduct your own ceremony and sign your marriage license without an officiant.  For more information on self-solemnization check out my blog here!

My Colorado elopement packages start with a minimum of three hours of coverage.  Each couple starts their experience with access to their online portal. Their portal will have a 50+ page elopement guide along with many more resources to walk you through your day.

Along with the 50+ page guide I will send over my list of preferred vendors. These are people in the industry that I trust to take care of my couples and love them just as much as I do!  From hair and makeup, to florists, to intimate venues, I am here to guide you through every part of the planning process.

As your wedding day gets closer, I will assist in location scouting to help you find a location that fits your vision and dream experience. Whether you’re looking for an amazing view with little to no hiking, or an epic sunrise hike, I will help you to balance your vision along with your ideal experience when choosing a place to say I do.  Along with location scouting I will also take into account your ideal timeline. I make sure we have plenty of time for the photos and experiences you’re hoping for. I do this while also balancing your vision for your wedding photos.

Last but not least, with the hype of your day I know you’ll want to see your wedding photos as soon as possible! This is why I always include a next day sneak peek with each of my elopement packages.  Whether you want to announce your elopement to your friends and family or just relive your day with your partner over and over again, you’ll have your sneak peeks within the day following your elopement.

Tips for Planning Your Colorado Elopement

Elopements have grown significantly in popularity over the years. As a result couples have become more and more creative when planning their elopement day!  Couples are filling their day with activities, and even breaking up their coverage so that they can have photos at different times of the day or even want to spend their time at multiple locations.  Here are my top five tips for planning an elopement day you’ll love.

1. Block Out Your Whole Day

Though your elopement ceremony and portraits might not take the whole day, I do recommend dedicating the whole day to celebrating you.  Plan a beautiful dinner just the two of you. Exchange your vows at breakfast while looking out at the mountains. You can even the night at your favorite bar with all your friends and family if that's what you want to do!  You’ll only experience this day once, so make the most of it!  Some of my favorite elopement days are the ones where we are exploring multiple locations.   Misaki and Eric planned a full day elopement that started with a sunrise hike and ended with portraits under the starry night sky.  You can check out their full elopement here! 2.Keep the Wedding Day Traditions You Love

Just because you’re eloping does not mean you have to skip out on all of the wedding day traditions.  You can get ready apart from your partner and have a first look. Some couples still have a parent give them away in their ceremonies. If you want the best of both worlds, you can even still have a reception on a later date!  The sky is the limit when planning your elopement day.

3. You Can Have Loved Ones at Your Elopement

Though the default image of an elopement for many is still a couple sneaking away to a courthouse to get married just the two of them, many couples include a handful of close friends or family members into their elopement these days!  Invite your grandpa to host your ceremony, bring just your immediate family as witnesses, or get ready with your favorite people before heading off on your own.

4. Choose a location that you know you’ll love

Choosing a location that you know you’ll love is key to making your elopement day experience special.  Though it does not have to be a place you’ve been before, be sure to choose a location that fits the experience you're hoping for.  If you’re an avid hiker and know that you want to spend your day out on the trails with your partner then choosing a location that has a hike to get there will be a wonderful way to spend your day.  If you don’t love hiking but want a gorgeous location in the mountains, know that there are plenty of great spots to choose from that require minimal hiking to get to.  Choose a location that fits you!  If you’re looking for more insight on where to elope check out my blog post on Where to Elope in Colorado

5. Remember that this day is about you

When making decisions for you and your partner’s day, it’s important to remember that this day is about you.  Make a rough plan with some non-negotiables before sharing your plans with others if you choose to.  Having those non-negotiables in place with your partner before talking to others about your elopement will help you to stay focussed on your own experience.
