Micro-Wedding at Sapphire Point Overlook | Liz and Mark

Sapphire Point Overlook is one of the most popular spots for micro-weddings and intimate weddings in Colorado, and it's easy to see why! The beautiful scenery, accessibility and the ability to reserve the location ahead of time with a permit make this spot the go-to for many couples. Liz and Mark's micro-wedding was a dream and this location was a major part of it! Keep reading for more on this beautiful wedding day.

Micro-Wedding at Sapphire Point Overlook

Before heading out to the overlook, Liz and Mark took their time getting ready with their family at their cabin. They opted to not see each other until the ceremony so they prepared for their day in different parts of the house.

Liz and Mark also opted to do an add-on of film! More on this later in the blog

Liz and Mark love Colorado, and Sapphire point over the years has become one of their favorite locations to visit when in the state. So when they started planning their micro-wedding, they knew that this would be one of their top choices. It is a really popular spot for micro-weddings. So popular, in fact ,that they recently changed the reservations and build a new overlook specifically for weddings! You can find more information on the Sapphire Point Overlook ceremony location here.

After their ceremony, we explored the area for some sunset and blue hour portraits. Sapphire Point is a beautiful location and has so many great little spots to explore throughout the area.

What is a Micro-Wedding?

When planning your wedding you have so many options when it comes to your experience, a micro-wedding is one of those options! Based on a 2024 article written by the knot, a Micro-wedding is a wedding with 50 guests or fewer.

  • Elopement: Just you and your partner

  • Micro-wedding: 50 Guests or fewer

  • Intimate Wedding: 50 to 100 guests

The wedding industry is fairly fluid when it comes to defining a very small micro-wedding versus an elopement with 3-4 guests, so always communicate your vision and guest count with your vendors when planning!

Colorado Film Photography

Something new that I've offered my KFP couples this year is a film add on! I have been practicing film photography for years now and have loved incorporating it into my couples' wedding galleries. I mixed a few film photos in throughout this gallery, and here are a few more from their day below!

(For the film nerds) For Liz and Mark's micro wedding I used Portra 400 on the Canon EOS1. Film adds such a fun touch of nostalgia and whimsy to a wedding gallery. The photos feel like the photos many of of grew up with, and add a little extra honesty and emotion to a gallery. If you're interested in adding film to your wedding package I would love to chat more about it!

Liz and Marks micro-wedding day at Sapphire Point Overlook was everything they hoped for out of their wedding day. They spent their time surrounded by loved ones and in nature with one another and the day couldn't have been any better. If you're also planning an elopement or micro-wedding, I have SO many amazing resources for you on the blog. If you're ready to start the planning process and book your photographer you can reach out via my contact page so we can start planning together.
