Summer Wedding at Blackstone Rivers Ranch | Nate + Nell
Summer weddings in Colorado are so gorgeous. The greenery is bright and thriving, the mountains are showing off, and we’re able to get some really beautiful photos outside of you and your boo! Nell and Nate first met thinking they’d be nothing more than cycling buddies, and now I get to share their SUPER fun wedding at Blackstone Rivers Ranch in Idaho Springs, CO with you where we wandered around the mountains and had the best time partying with their favorite people!
A Colorful Colorado Wedding At Blackstone Rivers Ranch
Nell and Nate’s wedding day started with all the colorful details - the florals and dresses were all different colors, perfect for summer vibes in the Colorado mountains! Nate went with a burgundy suit and colorful bowtie which was the perfect compliment to Nell’s simply stunning lace strappy dress. The two opted to do a first look at a different location to get more of a mountain view. And so we traveled a little to get some intimate and breathtaking photos of the two of them! We hiked around for a bit before heading back to the venue for some family and wedding party photos.
Finally it was time to get married. The ceremony took place on the outdoor patio space of Blackstone Rivers Ranch and was decorated with the same colorful flowers that Nell was showing off in her bouquet. Tears were flowing during their vows and then it was finally official!
Their Fun Summer Reception in the Mountains
Colorful reception florals filled the tables as guests mingled and waited for Nell and Nate to make their grand entrance…. ON A TANDEM BICYCLE! A more than fitting way to be announced since these two have been cycling together since they met - they’ve completed the Triple Bypass Bike Ride that runs right along Blackstone.
High Point Creamery started the party off right with their ice cream truck, and then it was time for speeches and dancing! Between the cowboy hats, heart glasses, and stuffed animal snakes (to represent their pet snakes back at home), this was a PARTY to remember.
How to Choose Your Wedding Colors
One of my favorite things about this wedding was the color scheme. The bright colors really popped against those summer greens and photographed beautifully! But sometimes choosing your wedding colors can be a difficult decision. Like in Nell’s case, she simply COULD NOT decide on a few colors, so she chose them all - a “rainbow eucalyptus” palette as they called it. Plus the rainbow palette is a nod to one of their favorite places, Hana, Maui. If you’re in a similar boat, here are some quick tips for choosing a color scheme that speaks to you:
Find inspiration from the season your wedding is in. Spring = bright and fresh, summer = bold and vibrant, fall = muted and warm, winter = moody and deep,
Think of the location and colors at your venue. Nell and Nate’s venue is surrounded by greenery, so their vibrant and playful colors really added some depth and bright vibes to their day.
Use a meaningful place or activity as a base. Think of some of your favorite places and things to do - what colors represent them?
What is the wedding theme or vibe? If you’re going for classic and formal, black, white, and neutrals are perfect. But if you prefer something eccentric and pops, go for bright colors.
What a fun wedding to be a part of! After finding Nell and Nate through another wedding client of mine, I knew this would be a really really great one to be a part of! These two have built their relationship off of adventure and memories, and now they have one more to add to the books!
