A Look at My Wedding Experience as a Colorado Wedding Photographer

Choosing the photographer that will document your wedding, one of THE best days of your lives and the next big step in your journey together, is no small task!! You want a stellar wedding album of course, but more than that you want someone who you’ll actually enjoy having around for your wedding! The pressure of this decision is what’s led me to write this blog. I want to give you an inside look at what the experience is like when you book me as your Colorado wedding photographer, so let’s get into it!

What it’s Like Working with Me as Your Colorado Wedding Photographer

A Bit About Me

First, here’s a little bit about yours truly! I grew up here in Colorado, and it was through experiencing this state’s immense beauty that I initially got into photography. Landscape and wildlife photography was my first passion with photography, and I still enjoy it today. It wasn’t until college that I started taking senior photos which quickly evolved into couples photos. Eventually I was asked by a friend to document their wedding as their photographer fell through at the last minute! Safe to say I was hooked immediately, and have happily been a wedding photographer in Colorado ever since!! I love the energy, the excitement, and the challenge of documenting weddings, and it’s become a huge part of who I am today!

My Values as a Person and Business

Who I am is very much at the core of this entire article! As I mentioned earlier, you want your wedding photographer to be someone who you actually enjoy being around as you’ll be spending A LOT of time with them on your wedding day!

My core beliefs and values, both in business and as a person, revolve around Inclusivity, Honesty, Authenticity, Comfort, and Ease. I believe everyone deserves to celebrate their love in a way that’s true to them, regardless of ethnicity, sexual preferences, gender, or anything else. Your love is worth celebrating, and I want to help you do just that while also giving you timeless photos to relive one of your favorite days together!

Finally, I am also a HUGE advocate for sustainability and integrate it throughout my profession wherever I can! Check out some of my past articles on sustainability here to see how you can make your wedding more sustainable, and if you need further inspiration I’m always down to brainstorm!

My Photography Style

When it comes to the photos of your wedding day, I’ve developed a well rounded style throughout my years of work as a wedding photographer in Colorado. I find that this helps to tell the full story of the wedding day exactly as it happened. I incorporate a mix of posed photos, full documentary style photos, and a combination of these styles in what I call “plandids”, or planned candids.

My style is also heavily rooted in my early love of landscape and wildlife photography. I keep things true to color with a bit of contrast, as well as a focus on documenting the day with a consistently timeless feel. I want your photos to look just as good 50 years from now as they do when you first see them, instead of reminding you of a very long gone trend! For a closer look at my photography style check out some of my past weddings over on the blog!!

My Approach to Documenting Your Wedding

Your wedding day is about more than just the photos to me though, as your Colorado wedding photographer I am your number one advocate for you on your wedding day. You are my total focus, and I’ll be doing everything in my power throughout the day to ensure that it runs smoothly, and that you have THE best time through it all. I’m here to document how your day felt, not just how it looked, and I want you to feel great throughout it!!

Many of my couples feel nervous in front of the camera, so if that’s you don’t worry! I have a tried and true formula that I’ve developed throughout my years of photography to help my couples look and feel their best. Through my mix of posed portraits, plandid photos, and documenting the in-between moments naturally as they happen, I’ll be able to document your wedding day from start to finish in a way that feels comfortable to you.

My Package Offerings

When it comes to my wedding photography packages I like to offer an assortment of starting options as no two weddings are the same! You can see my starting prices here. These packages are just the start though, as each of them can be customized to best fit each individual couple and their unique vision for their wedding day!

Included within all of my packages is an engagement session, which I feel is incredibly important! It’s a perfect moment to break the ice with your wedding photographer in a setting where the stakes are much lower than your actual wedding day! If you’ve already had engagement photos taken with another photographer, or they just aren’t your thing, don’t worry as you can swap this coverage to one of my other offerings! I have add-on options available that include:

  • High Quality Prints and Wedding Albums

  • Boudoir Photography Session

  • Adventure Photography Session

  • Rehearsal Dinner Coverage

  • Digital Photobooth at Your Wedding Reception

FAQs

How Many Photos Will We Receive?

You can expect around 50-100 photos per hour of booked photography coverage. The amount fluctuates from wedding to wedding based on factors like your guest count, your wedding party sizes, the details of your day, and more.

Do You Include Travel Costs in Your Package Pricing?

The packages on my pricing page include travel fees for any destination within 2 hours of Denver, my home base. Anything outside of that range would include a separate travel fee which I discuss with my clients during our first call together!

How do You Approach Working at a Venue That’s New to You?

While it can be a plus to have worked at a venue before, a HUGE part of being a wedding photographer is thinking on your feet! I honestly love working at new venues as it gives me a fresh perspective to work with, it’s pretty exciting to me really!! When I do work at a venue for the first time I’ll usually arrive 20-30 minutes early to do some location scouting in addition to the online research I do beforehand.

The Next Steps

Now that we’ve gone over what it’s like to have me as your Colorado wedding photographer, it’s time to cover the next steps! First, if I sound like the right fit you’ll want to inquire with me through my contact page. From there you’ll book your first call with me where we’ll really get to know one another, and you’ll get to decide if I’m the right photographer for you! If so, we'll discuss your package for you to book and I’ll take you through my thorough preparation process all the way up until your wedding day becomes a reality!!
